In following Julia Butterfly Hill via social media the past couple years, I’ve watched her continually give of her time and energy helping individuals and non-profits with their efforts to do good work in the world. Presently, Julia is challenged with health issues from Lyme Disease. We ALL need support of one kind or another at times, don’t we?
I was trying to think of a way to support Julia – whose story, courage, and generosity inspired me to write and illustrate Luna & Me (Christy Ottaviano Books/Henry Holt). While I don’t normally sell my kids books, I thought a special sale of signed Luna & Me books might help her with medical bills. (She graciously and humbly accepted.) And, what a great way to share the story of Julia “Butterfly” and Luna with even more of our youth. :) She is a wonderful example for our kids and how they can make a difference!
